Who doesn’t want to make a career abroad? But before going for any options, it is advisable to look at the IELTS examination, as it is the first stepping stone towards achieving your dreams.

 

In order to study in any European countries or in Australia, it is required to pass the aptitude test in English language, which is commonly known as IELTS. The score of this exam is valid for two years, and one can appear in this exam in any part of the country.

International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is an exam, which is taken to evaluate the overall fluency in English for any candidate. Scope of this examination includes appraisal of the fundamental language skills, like reading, listening, writing, and speaking. If you are planning to pursue your career in the countries, like the European countries, the United Kingdom, Australia, then you must pass this examination for being acceptable in those countries.

  • Examination categories

In view of the nature of applicants to the aforementioned countries, this exam has been categorized into two parts, namely for educational purpose, and for general purpose. If you are willing to take a visa for studying abroad or scholarship in any foreign university, then you have to appear for the general test. However, for evaluation of the subject knowledge, the academic version of IELTS is there. Most of the academic institutions in Australia and the UK rely on the scores of these exams.

  • Eligibility criteria

Eligibility criteria for appearing in these exams are not at all a stringent one. If you have cleared your board examinations, then you are eligible to appear for IELTS. This is the minimum criteria for appearing in IELTS. However, one should always remember that the minimum eligibility criteria for IELTS and individual academic institutions are totally different, and mutually exclusive. And of course, you need to have your passport ready.

  • Validity of scores

Though internationally accepted, IELTS scores are valid for only two years. If you want to apply for any academic institution abroad within two years, then only you should appear in the exam.

 

  • How to appear

If you want to appear for this examination, then you can either register yourself online through the site of British Council, or you can visit the British Council office situated in New Delhi. However, the online registration process is more efficient and comfortable compared to the physical registration process.
