Can Robots Replace Humans?

Can Robots Replace Humans?

Introduction – How Technological Advancement Is Affecting Our Lives

As we all know our everyday lives depend on machines. Think of a time when you are told not to use any device for a whole week?? Can you stay?? The obvious answer is no. We all know that a robot can be more capable, productive faster, and efficient than a human. If that is the case, we might say that in future humans are going to face tough competition against robots. Let’s go deeper into the topic of Robots replacing humans

Let’s Check Out Few Details

We all know in the era of industry 4.0, automation is going to play a major role. Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Deep Learning, Big data, etc. are few sectors that are going to be the hot topic Each and every technology company is investing in billions towards R&D of Automation and Machine Learning.
Robots and automation a play important role during industry 4.0 in learning algorithms and allowing productivity increase and quality assurance. According to a study in China alone 14 million robots will be placed to work within the next 11 years. Already, we see in many sectors robots have taken over many redundant jobs. The automobile is one such sector. In automobile manufacturing, the highest percent of automation is being used as of now. Production of cars includes large hulking robots fenced off from human employees showing Robots replacing humans.
Another industry is Electronics manufacturing. Since consumers have an ever-growing demand for smartphones and other high tech gadgets, manufacturers industries have capitalized hugely on robotic automation. For example, in China alone in the last few years, the number of robots alone working has tripled, thus taking away many manual redundant jobs.

According to a study, 25 percent of the jobe in the US are at risk due to automation and mainly the redundant and boring jobs are at high risk. Low wage earners are going to be the ones who will first see their jobs disappear rather than high-level management. In a country like India with a population of 1.3 billion, less than half only 47 percent of the graduates are employable. Again India’s main business is the service sector most of which can be automated. Hence, it is true to say, that if full-fledged robotics and automation are being deployed, we might be looking at massive unemployment in the near future.

The following are fields where robots are being used on a large scale:
1) Manufacturing or Assembly line
2) Agriculture
3) Exoskeletons
4) Search and rescue operations
4) Logistics
5) explorations and navigation
Other than this automation is also used in the service industry, CRM, software development and maintenance, quality assurance, and military. All of these show that human beings can be easily replaced by robots in the near future. However, there is an ongoing debate among researchers about Robots replacing humans for a long time whether robots can fully replace humans. While it definitely looks that chances of robots replacing humans are very high, there are few arguments which show that opposite:
1) Robots are irrational and do not understand human logic and emotions. Many jobs run on human soft skills like sales, and no robot can replicate human logic.
2) Humans prefer to talk with other humans and hence be however more advanced a machine is, they cannot fully replace humans in the workplace. The simple reason is that we do not want machines replying to us.
3) Robots do not understand customer relationships. They only follow straight algorithms. CRM is a big part of any business to flourish and it is just impossible for machines to take that place.
4) Robots replacing humans will also create more new jobs, better coders, developers, and ML specialists who can develop, maintain, and improve this automation in the workplace.
5) Many jobs which include artistic and creative skills cannot be replicated by a machine. Moreover, jobs like a journalist, tour guide, doctor, childcare expert, etc cannot be taken over by robots.

Conclusion

Thus, from the above article, we can say that even though many of our future jobs are going to be automated, but it does not mean robots are taking over humans completely. We have to argue ourselves, learn more, and gain new skills so as to stay ahead in the competition. It is true we are going to face mass unemployment however, new opportunities will come and thus we should always try to keep up with the competition. The touch of humans cannot be eliminated and every company needs humans to run their business. SO, human being need to be responsible, try to better themselves so that the scenario of robots replacing humans does not take place.
