Drishti IAS Overview

‘Drishti The Vision’ was founded on 1st November 1999. Since then, we have been one of the top choices for preparing for the UPSC Civil Services Examination (CSE).

In recent years, and especially in the Hindi medium, there have been more than a thousand selections from Drishti IAS. We, therefore, believe that students who follow our methods and work hard on our scientifically designed schedules shall achieve success in this examination. With this goal in mind, we have finally decided to design, develop and prepare a one-of-a-kind course for English medium aspirants.

Another reason for launching our English medium course is to fill a void in the UPSC coaching community. This void, as described by many of the aspirants, is that of a well-structured and intensive classroom programme. Aspirants want a classroom programme that gradually takes them from the very basics of a subject to the level needed for UPSC CSE. They also need classroom programmes that do not burden them to the extent of them being not able to maintain their own study time.

Why Drishti IAS?

The Civil Service Examination (CSE) is considered to be one of the toughest exams, owing to the vast and dynamic nature of its syllabus. It is a challenge for any student to prepare this syllabus and to ensure that they get their names on the final list of selected candidates.

We, at Drishti IAS, want to accept this challenge and work with students in such a way that they clear the exam within a limited time. This is also why our holistic academic programme is designed to address most of the problems faced by UPSC aspirants.

Drishti IAS approach for General Studies (GS)

We realise the importance of GS and hold the view that it should be prepared at depth and in great detail. Moreover, the nature of questions asked in GS these days is such that only selective study cannot help. This is why we have planned our GS Preliminary and Main batches for 15 months.

Apart from this, we also believe that the preparation for Preliminary and Main Exam should be carried out together because a lot of the topics overlap. The fundamental difference is that in Preliminary exam the correct answer has to be chosen from the given options, while in the Main Exam various aspects related to a topic has to be written as essay type answers. Drishti IAS Faculty Members

The biggest strength at Drishti IAS is our faculty members who are driven by excellence. In order to maintain this excellence, we have deliberately kept the procedure for selection of teachers very very stringent.

Teachers are appointed only when they clear a multi-stage selection process. Also, subject experts for each section of General Studies are appointed only when such experts have displayed a thorough understanding and depth of knowledge in their respective subjects. Subject experts also need to demonstrate that they have outstanding presentation skills before getting selected. For more click here.

Drishti IAS follows a unique teaching methodology which sets us apart from the rest.

We believe in building a proper understanding, a foundation, instead of rote learning. Our focus is that each student gets to understand and assimilate the basic concepts thoroughly. Memorising any information on any topic becomes much easier once one understands it.

Faculty at Drishti IAS also do not believe in merely keeping students busy in class, taking down dictated notes. Instead, the focus is on explaining concepts clearly and for notes, providing handouts and printed material that covers all the relevant information needed in the class. Dear, this is my personal thinking about दृष्टि IAS :

  1. 100% Private industry.
  2. Treat like MNC.. . And I think for UPSC this is not needed.
  3. Exxxxtra material makes you confuse and that matter covers all things but it is tough to extract the real things which is needed for UPSC.
  4. They don’t focus on basic books like NCERT and ECO SURVEY.
  5. TEST AND AND EXTRA CURRICULUM ACTIVITIES ARE baseless and it will not help you any level.
  6. POSITIVE – GOOD PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT, clean and proper settle desk and table, fee payment, matter and other things ( JUST LIKE MNC)
  7. SORRY FOR MY GRAMMAR MISTAKES AND THINGS WHICH IS NOT FARE.
  8. SURELY, MY PRESENTATION IS not attractive but you will feel that I m right after digging the info about DRISTI IAS.

Frequently Asked Question

Civil Services work as the backbone of the administrative machinery of the country. Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS), and Indian Foreign Service (IFS) are three of the most preferable services under this. IAS is most sought after among these services as IAS officers get the opportunity to serve on higher strategic positions in the Union Government and State Governments.

The fee is decided after analyzing various factors such as cost of building maintenance, management expenses and other overheads. The number of admissions in batch also affects the expenses-revenue ratio of an organization. In Hindi medium batches, generally, the number of students is higher in comparison to English medium batches. The higher number of admissions in Hindi medium classes provides us with an opportunity to pass the benefit to the
students in the form of reduced fees. Considering these factors, the fee in Hindi medium batches is comparatively less.
There is no such extra facilities for English medium candidates.

Generally, we suggest that one should opt for that language for civil services
preparation in which she/he feels most comfortable expressing her/himself through writings. In  the case of equal comfort in Hindi and English language, we would suggest opting for English because of the higher success rate in civil services examination in the past few years.

The primary reason for the higher fee in Delhi is that the operational cost in Delhi is
significantly more than that of Prayagraj. For example- the higher cost of building maintenance and management expenses of the institute in Delhi. That is why, even in Hindi medium batches, the difference of fee exists.
We provide high-quality classroom programs in Delhi, and we assure the students of the same in Prayagraj. We do not compromise on the quality of teaching in any of our centers.

Normally, this facility will not be available. This facility will be provided only in rare cases,
but with certain conditions. The conditions are given below:
1. The student has deposited her/his full fees (at Delhi Branch).
2. She/he has such a sound reason that it has become necessary for him to change her/his place.
Adequate documentation will be required in favour of a solid cause.
3. The centre where the student wants to transfer has free seats available in the specified batch.
4. In case of transfer from Delhi to Prayagraj centre, no amount of fees will be refunded.
Additionally, 10% of the related batch fees in Prayagraj will be charged as a transfer fee.
5. In case of transfer from Prayagraj to Delhi, it will be necessary to pay the difference of fees of
both places as the fees in Delhi is higher than Prayagraj. In addition, 10% of the fees of the
respective batch in Delhi will be charged as a transfer fee.

Yes, students will be given this facility with certain conditions. Those conditions are as
follows:
1. If a student has paid the entire fee for a program (e.g. General Studies, CSAT, General English,
Essay or an optional subject) at Prayagraj centre and has taken classes (or has left due to his own
reasons), and now he wants to do classes at Delhi centre, then he will have to take admission in
the same program at Delhi centre and pay 50% of the total course fees there.
2. If a student has taken general studies classes in Prayagraj and now wants to do any other
program (like CSAT, Optional Subject, General English or Essay) in Delhi, then he will be
considered as a student of Drishti (Delhi), and there will be prescribed exemption in fees. He has
to pay the same fees as students of Drishti (Delhi).
3 If a student has taken classes with full payment of fees for any other program (e.g. CSAT,
Optional Subject, General English or Essay) and not general studies in Prayagraj and now wants
to do general studies classes in Delhi, then he will be given a special discount of 10% in fees

The Paper Setter, who is an eminent person in his field, normally acts as the Head Examiner, and wherever the number of candidates in a particular subject is very large, the Commission appoints Additional Examiners for valuation of answer books.

To achieve uniformity in valuation, where more than one Examiner is involved, the Commission arranges a meeting of the Head Examiner with the Additional Examiners after the Examination is over. At this stage, they discuss thoroughly the question paper, the appropriate answers and decide the standard of evaluation.

To further bring about uniformity of assessment inter se the Examiners, the following procedure is undertaken: The Head Examiner conducts a sample survey of answer books of each Additional Examiner to verify whether the uniform standards of evaluation evolved in the meeting of Examiners have actually been followed. Depending on the standard adopted by the Additional Examiner, the Head Examiner may confirm the awards without any change if the Examiner has correctly followed the standard decided upon, or may carry out upward / downward moderation as considered necessary to ensure maximum possible degree of uniformity in the evaluation process.

Therefore, the aspect of inter examiner variation in standards of evaluation in a Paper affecting candidates’ performance is taken care of adequately.
