Surbhi Singla IAS Topper 2021 Biography

Surbhi Singla completed her formal schooling at Delhi Public School (DPS), Jalandhar, Punjab. Then She went straight to IIT Delhi where she earned a Bachelor of Technology in Chemical Engineering Degree . After completing her studies, she could have gone to work abroad, but on her father’s advice, she decided to study for the UPSC exam. Surbhi failed to clear the IAS exam in the first three attempts. Subsequently, UPSC Topper 2021 Surbhi Singla cleared the Civil Services exam in her fourth attempt, clearing all three stages of prelims, mains and interview.

  • Surbhi Singla studied 10th (Matriculation) and 12th (Intermediate) in Jalandhar, Punjab.
  • She completed her Bachelor of Science (B.Tech) in Chemical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi.

After graduating from IIT Delhi, she could have easily entered the private sector paying in lacs or gone abroad to explore job opportunities, but on her father’s suggestion, she changed her path and decided to prepare for the UPSC Civil Services exam. Her father is a businessman and her mother is a housewife and they always supported Surbhi whenever she felt bad. Surbhi’s siblings are also well settled, her brother is a general practitioner in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.

UPSC Topper 2021 Surbhi Singla’s journey to success was not without obstacles as she experienced failure throughout her life. Although failing the IAS exam in the first three attempts was a setback for her, she maintained her determination and had constant support from her parents which ensured that she did not lose track of her preparation and continued her studies.

While the specifics of her preparation strategy are not yet known as far as her journey is concerned, it is clear that she had to spend a considerable amount of time studying the UPSC syllabus. Since she came from a technical background, she was not familiar with such a deep study of social sciences. Having no prior knowledge of the core subjects of the civil service examination must have been difficult. Making notes by hand must have been a crucial aspect of her approach. During her preparatory period,Ms. Surbhi SIngla didn’t work or intern and was solely focused on her Indian Administrative services studies.

  • Set aside at least a year for CSE preparation and make a strategy to get started.
  • Plan Carefully: While studying for UPSC CSE, make sure you follow a realistic and manageable study plan. Creating a planner and tracking the progress of your goals can also be beneficial.
  • Limit your study materials – jumping from book to book to prepare for a test will only confuse you; instead, pick a few books and materials and stick with them as much as possible.
  • Although the Internet is an excellent source of information and study materials, beware of overusing it due to its many distractions.
  • Don’t panic: it takes time to develop a CSE preparation regimen that works for you. If the topic seems difficult and you feel stuck, don’t worry; think about it and you will figure out how to grasp the concept.
  • Be aware of yourself as follows: Identifying your own strengths and weaknesses will help an aspirant focus their efforts on preparation. This focus and understanding will go a long way in helping you tailor each stage of preparation to your individual requirements.
  • Practice: Before the actual test, you have to take mock practice tests for both the prelims and the mains. This will help you gain confidence and expertise in framing your answers correctly.
