How Tough Is CAT?

If you have a dream to be a part of some of the Top B-schools in India, then cracking the common admission test or CAT is the most important step to making your dream a reality. But CAT is one of the tough exams to crack. Why? Well, in 2021, about 230,000 candidates appeared for the exam, and the 19 IIMs around the nation only offer 4,300 seats. So, the ratio was 1:53, which gives you an idea about the competition there is. With odds this high, many students fail to secure a seat for themselves.

But that’s it. Because of the high stakes, and competition, students fail due to so much pressure. So, the first thing you have to do is always believe that you will beat the CAT exam. And to do that, you’ll need an excellent strategy and study plan to prepare yourself. There is no perfect way to do your CAT exam preparation, but there are some guidelines that you must follow:

Clear up the Basics

The first step is always to understand the basics. This is a given because before confidently solving all the questions, you’ll need to learn the proper way to do so.

Practice is a Must

After fully learning the basics, the next step is to apply them a lot. Keep practicing as many questions as you can so that nothing is left by the time of the final exam.

Take the Mock Test

The most important part of your CAT exam preparation is attempting the mock tests. They provide you with a similar simulation of the actual CAT exam. You learn about your weak areas and get better with every mock test you take.

Overall, the CAT is Tough, but it can be easy for those who start their preparation easy and follow a well-designed study plan. Never give up, and keep practicing. Give your greatest efforts to the preparation for the CAT exam, and you’ll definitely win a seat in a top B-school.
